Jodie White was first introduced to working in metals while studying at Grennan Mill Craft School in Thomastown, Kilkenny. She went on to study Jewellery & Art Metal Craft in St. John’s Central College, Cork and later interned at Fitzgerald Jewelry, Brooklyn, New York before returning to Kilkenny to begin the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s (DCCoI) Jewellery & Goldsmithing Course. She was one of four students chosen to display her collection, Dúlaman, in the Kilkenny Shop on Nassau Street, Dublin for the Scéal event of September 2019. After graduating and spending a few years gaining industry experience with two jewellery retailers, she established Jodie White Jewellery and now offers a variety of services; bespoke engagements and wedding bands, remodelling of old jewellery pieces and a ready-to-wear collection available for purchase online.

“My work is focused on form and flow, using a combination of traditional Goldsmithing methods such as forging, enameling and stone setting through modern technology including laser welding, puk welding and hydraulic pressing. My work is infused with elements of the natural world, often building with fine wires or thin sheets, resulting in fine, skeletal arrangements that depict movement and growth. Hidden strength is a key factor to this work; for although the aesthetic of delicacy and animation is important to me, I am a firm believer in sustainability and the need for longevity in luxury pieces”
